Kenyan Leaders Who Have Died of Cancer

Cancer has become an epidemic in Kenya. Kenyans are dying every single day because they cannot afford or get access to treatment. Cancer is affecting everybody. It is becoming a household name , almost everyone can relate to the deadly disease, we all have relatives, friends or neighbours who are battling with the  disease or have died of cancer. 

Here is a list of prominent Kenyan Leaders who succumbed to Cancer.

1.The Former Safaricom C.E.O Bob Collymore ,61 He battle with blood cancer.


2. Dr. Joyce Laboso who was the Governor of Bomet county who died recently, 58 She battled cancer for years, the cancer had spread allover her  body. 

3.Former Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth , 41He had a battle with colorectal cancer.

4.  Former Nyeri County Governor Nderitu Gachagua, 64.He died of pancreatic cancer in February 2017.

5.Former Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze, 60 . He battled colon cancer for 10 years

6.Former Migori Senator Ben Oluoch, 55.He died in June 2018 after a protracted battle with throat cancer.

7. Former Baringo South MP Grace Kipchoim, 49. She passed away in April 2018 after a battle with acute colon cancer. She died while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital.


With our leaders dying, common mwananchi battling cancer cannot afford even let alone money for pain killers. A single shot of cancer pain killer ranges fro ksh 1500 to 2500. The government needs to make cancer screening free and accessible to all Kenyans.
